School Facts: Santa Clarita Christian School is a private Christian school located geographically within the Wm. S. Hart School District in Santa Clarita, California. The City of Santa Clarita, located 30 miles north of Los Angeles, has a population of 190,000. SCCS was started in 1982 and now has an enrollment of 508 students in grades K-12. There are approximately 167 students in grades 9-12.
SCCS is officially registered as a private school in the state of California, is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) and is a member of The Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI).
School Organization: The secondary school day consists of seven class periods that are 50 minutes long. The school year is 172 days long with11 inservice days and is divided into four quarters making up two semesters. Class sizes average between 18-25 students. With the exception of a few elective classes, all classes successfully completed are worth five credits per semester.
Faculty: SCCS has 45 full and part-time faculty members, one-third with advanced degrees. In addition to these teachers, there is one administrator, one principal, one administrative assistant, one school counselor, one nurse, a dean of men and of women, an academic dean and a support staff of approx. 40.
Graduation Requirements: SCCS requires 226 credits to graduate (California requires 220). Graduates are required to take 3 years of History, 4 years of English, 3 years of Math, 3 years of Science, 2 years of Foreign Language, 1 year of Fine Arts, and 2 years of Physical Education. Most students who attend SCCS for grades 9-12 graduate with more than 250 units.

Sample electives available at different grade levels (not every year) include: Humanities, Yearbook, Choir, Choir Ensemble, Photography, Art, Theater Arts and Home Economics. Students in 8th grade take Algebra 1 for high school credit.
SCCS is involved in the California Scholastic Federation and honors students with high achievement. Honors classes are currently offered in 9th-12th grades in Intro. to Literature, Physics, World Literature, World History and British Literature. AP Biology, AP Chemistry, AP U.S. History, AP Government, AP Language, AP Literature, AP Environmental Science and AP Calculus are currently offered. SCCS does not have special education classes.

Standardized Testing: All SCCS students take the TerraNova each spring. All SCCS 10th and 11th grade students take the PSAT each fall. SCCS students are strongly encouraged to take the college entrance SAT exam during both their junior and senior years. We offer an SAT Prep course for all students interested in preparing for the SAT test. There are a few students who take the ACT exam to fulfill the requirements of the college or university to which they are applying.
